PRESENTATION OF THE CONTINUING EDUCATION AND WORK-STUDY DEPARTMENT

Organisation

It is possible to obtain a qualification or training in a new skill at any age.
Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 offers a range of short courses leading to a qualification based on its areas of expertise: science and technology, health, sport and teaching.
Lyon 1 provides an effective interface between industry, the liberal professions, teachers, researchers and experts in all the university’s areas of expertise. Each year, it welcomes more than 10,000 continuing education students, including 1,900 in work-study mode, on its 650 courses.
The Continuing Education and Work-Study Department at Lyon 1 helps you identify the types of funding and schemes available to meet your needs and help you achieve your goals.
It proposes a number of schemes to enable you to resume your studies: DAEU B (equivalent to a scientific baccalauréat), Work-Study (professional insertion or apprenticeship contract) and Validation of Experience. It can also meet the needs of companies in terms of training, optimising and updating the skills of their employees.
Various schemes are available to fund your course: the personal training account (CPF), Pro-A (Promotion through Work-Study), CPF Transition, Skills Development Plan, etc. Your training may involve courses leading to certifications, short courses or tailored courses in the company or training centre, or by the validation of personal or collective professional experience.

Certification and approval

Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 is committed to a quality-based approach. Its aim: strengthen the relationships and trust between the partners in continuing and life-long training and increase links between the university and socio-economic stakeholders.

Datadock

Lyon 1’s continuing education and work/study service (FOCAL) is referenced on the Datadock database set up by continuing education funders, within the context of the quality decree of 30 June 2015.

Partners and funding bodies

Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 contributes to the development and promotion of professional training at the local, regional and national level in partnership with local and regional authorities and research and funding bodies, and in close conjunction with the business sector.

Université de Lyon

Following the call for expressions of interest (AMI) launched at the end of 2015 by the ministry regarding the development of life-long training in universities, Université de Lyon was chosen as a pilot institution to reinvigorate continuing education at the level of the Lyon Saint-Étienne site.

Situated in a geographical area ranked No.1 in terms of professional training in France, in 2016 Université de Lyon adopted a ‘life-long training’ objective, working with the university establishments to provide an increasingly high-quality service in response to social demand.
